Chapter 3 gave me some courage and hope, I’m moving on to chapter 4!

Chapter 3 was much much easier to read!

With all the flashcards waiting to be seen, I’m tempted to raise the cap of new words per day, but 15 is already a lot.

I thought I would have time to finish the short story that gives its name to the collection today… I’ll finish it tomorrow.

I finished chapter 2, this one was even more difficult than chapter 1!

I already have 140 new words waiting… and I only added just a fraction of 山中邪神‘s new words….

Another great story about how the idea of murder can make its way into ordinary people’s mind. I loved it.

Finished the second chapter, doing some slow progress on this one, but it’s so easy to read compared to 山中邪神.

山中邪神 is so hard to read… I swear some passages feel like reading in a language I never learnt. It thought it will get better, but it doesn’t…

The story is so good though, conspiracies, political schemes, treason, and mysterious deaths.

Finished the first chapter. I don’t know why, but I don’t feel like making a character list for this book, I don’t think it’s going to be necessary anyway, and I just want to read without taking any note.

I’m not sure if it’s going to be the kind of novel that I’ll enjoy, though it’s too early to tell, But it reads easily so that’s that.

I actually enjoyed watching it a lot. I don’t think the film is exceptional, it has several weird scenes (that end scene on the roof, with the music?) and you have to accept several premises (Singh can kill any number of zombie bare handed and he is himself unkillable), but I don’t know I was very tired last night, and this film was the perfect entertainment.

There’s a lot of classic zombie stuff, and Singh is too strong to make the film really suspenseful, but combat scenes were really good, I love zombies and I love martial arts, and I personally loved the two together in this movie. Some scenes could have been really impactful if only they had consequences (when we see Rin and Singh watching each other through the glass, if Rin had died at that moment it would have been something; the scene on the roof, if the camera had revealed that Singh had be bitten which would explain why he didn’t run towards the helicopter, then the scene would have made sense…)

Atmosphere was really great, combat was good, it was a good enough entertainment.

I’m adding tons of chengyu to my wordbook thanks to 山中邪神. If I study this seriously, I’ll be able to read any wuxia novel after that, it has to be.

I love Otsuichi’s short stories so much! The first three ones from this collection were very short, but all so impactful. 五分钟的永远 is such a beautiful title too, I really loved this one.

I completely changed my mind about my next Korean novel and decided to work on my physical TBR. I have a lot of Korean books piling up, because it’s so tempting to buy physical books when browsing offline bookshops… I want to focus on reading ebooks from now on, so I really want to finish all the paper books on my shelves and sell them to make some room.

So I picked 달콤한 살인 계획 by 김서진. I don’t know what it’s going to be about at all.

My goal was to finish chapter 2 today, but I haven’t even read half of it. Again, it has quite difficult passages, so I’m taking my time. I also decided to add unknown words to my flashcards, so I’m spending more time studying vocabulary than actually reading. I’m thinking that studying this book is a good opportunity to open the doors of more historical and wuxia novels to read in the future.
